3. What are the key principles to donning sterile gloves?
4. Describe the most interesting fact you learned from this article.
Donning sterile gloves is designed to add an extra level of protection to both the user and the clinician in the effort to minimize wound contamination and any chances of causing a cross infection
Principles of Sterile Technique
The purpose of sterile gloves is to eliminate transient flora and reduce resident flora during a procedure to prevent introducing organisms into the wound if the gloves become torn. Skin bacteria can rapidly multiply under surgical gloves if hands are washed with soap that is not antimicrobial.
4) Remember we will have 2 inches to grab around the sterile field without contaminating it. First, glove your dominate hand. Pick up the glove for the dominate hand with your non-dominate hand by grasping the inside of the cuff of the glove. Then slide it onto your dominate hand.
If the glove does not go on straight, wait to adjust it until you put on the other glove.
