Explain the difference between technical and fundamental analysis using specific examples. Which type of analysis would be better suited to your strengths and personality?
By understanding the underlying financials of those stock,stock price movements are predicted. When the companys performance is analysed from its financial statements, it is called fundamental analysis. Under fundamental analysis, various ratios are studied to find out the strength and growth prospect of the company. Fundamental analsysis includes analsysis of EPS, Book value of share, leverage, return on investments, liquidity, cashflows. Fundamental analysis gives a long term view of a company.
Technical analysis represents the study of market data to predict the stock price in short term. Technical analysis includes study of historical market price of the share over past month/years, ploting the data in a graph and predicting the market moves. It also includes study of industry trend, the index trend. Technical analyst beleive that the market behaves as per its past trend. Therefore study of past movement can indicate the future trend of the stock.
