In your own words (not copied and pasted from the textbook or another source), explain what the following sentence means:
"Attachment theories assume that the relationship between early
experiences and subsequent outcomes is probabilistic, not
deterministic."
Attachment theories are based on the fundamental that human relationships are emotionally bonded with one another such as, parent-child, children-caregiver. These relationships are meaningful in development of subsequent relationships. There are some findings with the assumption that early experiences “determine” later outcomes, but however, this is not the scenario.Early experiences do not necessiraly influence the following outcomes in life.In other words, lets assume that a child had a supportive and positive relationship with the caregiver and developed a flourishing relationship during infancy-childhood ages. Here, the optimal relationship between them during early life existed but this doesnot menat that these positive relationships are set for ever.If an individual has far from optimal experiences in early life, attachment theory suggests that it is possible for that individual to develop well-functioning adult relationships through a number of corrective experiences—including relationships with siblings, other family members, teachers, and close friends.
Good Luck!
