1. Do you think that most college students understand what consent looks like/means?
2. Do you believe that pornography negatively impacts women and girls? Why or why not?
Consent means agreement or permission taken in order to do something. Most college students are aged between 18-21 and consider themselves to be adults. However, they seldom understand what consent means. The forebrain is involved in decision making in adults, however, it is not developed fully until the age of 21. That is exactly why college students still need consent of a supervisor or an in-charge to help them make a decision which is the best for them.
Consent means having an adult agree to something that one may want to do. However, college students refute the idea of consent because they feel that they are old enough to decide for themselves. It is not like they are incapable of making decisions, however, rational decisions are seldom made. Consent seems like authority to most college students and thus, I reckon most college students don't understand what consent looks like/means.
Pornography negatively impacts the human mind. It's effect is not gender specific. It negatively impacts both women and men. Just like how drugs, alcohol, smoking is addictive, so is pornography. An individual starts off with breezing through the Playboy magazine and soon with time finds himself sneakingly watching porn very often than one must.
I reckon, pornography impacts women and girls. However, having said that, it does not mean that it has a positive impact on men and boys. Pornography can be an addiction and irrespective of the gender, it has a negative impact. One must know where to draw the line.
