1. why is selection of mode important during initiation and throughout the course of mechanical ventilation

2. What is the purpose of using modes that control or limit pressure delivery with each breath?

3. Do you feel ventilators that offer advanced modes with artificial intelligence systems are a necessary choice for patients receiving ventilator support?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) Selection of mode is important because :-

-Provide adequate ventilation and oxygenation

-Avoid ventilator induced lung injury

-Provide patient ventilator synchrony

-Allow successful weaning from mechanical ventilation

2) Pressure controlled ventilation :

Pressure is constant and Vt will vary

-Only mandatory breaths are available to the patient

Machine delivered and could be patient triggered inspiration

Not spontaneous

-Once inspiration begins a pressure plateau is created and maintained for a preset inspiratory time

-Time triggered time cycled by a preset inspiratory time

-Indicated :-

For patients with severe ARDS who are in danger of high pressures

Reduction of peak pressures decrease the likelihood of barotrauma for those patients

Patients best managed if sedated

3) Every another day a new technology is invented and everyone needs to be latest in that ,but I don't think that it's necessary to have ventilators that offer advanced modes with artificial intelligence systems. The existing ventilator system are enough to provide to the ventilatory services

1.)Throughout the course of a year an agribusiness may have temporary periods of excess cash. During those periods, management of the firm may be tempted to spend some of that excess cash to purchase a fixed asset and pay for the purchase using the excess cash that is available. Explain why a firm usually should not finance a fixed asset such as a new truck with excess cash or even an operating loan. What problems could this cause? 2. A...

Introduction: Throughout the course the assignments tie important concepts to applications, sometimes mathematical but sometime veering (not too deeply) into other fields. This week we consider a chemistry application. Methane is a chemical compound with the symbol CH4, having four hydrogen atoms and one carbon atom. The molecule is modeled in a tetrahedral shape, with the four hydrogen atoms connected to a central carbon atom (by C-H bonds, if you know a little chemistry). The goal is to determine the...
