this article is a review on research stuies related to unintentional injury prevention.

a published inventory was used for the selection of research articles between 2013 and 2016 which is a four year period. the research articles were selected using stratified random sampling. the journals were categorized using stratification at three levels based on the average number of published articles in a year. the data was collected based the criteria such as age, type of injury, approach for prevention, impact factor of the journal and country where the research study was conducted. as a whole, 597 journals were reviewed which were subcategorised into 3 strata. the major concept revewed was that of prevention of transportation injuries. other injuries include falls, drowning and poisonong attempts. the most commonly affected age group was that of children. the primary interventions for prevention of injury identified were educational awareness and peer pressure on attempts of risk taking behaviours of their counterparts. the primary outcomes of these articles were reduction of injury burden and improvement in knowledge and attitude. most of the studies published in the articles were conducted in low income and middle income countries. the limitations found were thatv the review did not include studies published in english language and there was less time frame. the findings suggested a need for research in injury prevention and prevention of injury among children in low and middle income countries.
