Workplace violence refers to any act or even any threat of physical hurt or intimidation occuring at a work place. It also include any form of verbal threat or abuse.
People at risk-

America.
✓You are more likely to experience it , if
• you have colleagues with volatile and unpredictable
behaviour.
• you work in a remote area.
• you work at a place where alcohol is served.
• you work in a location with high crime rates.
• you have a night shift work.
• you work alone or in a small group.
• you are responsible for handling money at your workplace.
• you are responsible for routine inspection at your workplace.
High risk occupations -
Police officers, social service employees, housing inspectors,
alcohol sellers , cashiers, transit drivers,etc.
Prevention strategies -
•First step is to identify the risk factors for violence at your
workplace.
•employers should take appropriate measures for prevention.
•Following a zero tolerance policy towards violence can make the
workers feel safe.
• there should be a written violence prevention program and
training for this must be provided to everyone at the
workplace.
• Employers must encourage reporting of such incidents.
