1) Anticoagulant group of medication is given to prevent the blood clotting..  

In this following disease condition anticoagulant therapy is used..-

  • Deep vein thrombosis
  • Myocardial infarction
  • Hemophilia
  • Thrombocytopenia etc..

2)   Before initiating anticoagulant therapy the following assessment should be done-

  • Any bleeding ( gum bleeding, Nose bleeding or epistaxis etc.)
  • Any presenting hemorrhage
  • Any fracture present or not
  • Blood studies ( Occult blood test )
  • Prothrombin time
  • Platelet count etc..

3)  When the patient is on anticoagulant therapy the following Lab assessment should be done-

  • Prothrombin time
  • aPTT ( Activated partial prothrombin time )
  • Hemoglobin
  • Platelet count
  • Bleeding time
  • Clotting time etc..

4)  Obvious ,, it is more easy to find any health information from the electronic heath record ...Because- it is more adventagious to assess & document any health information by the use of electronic health record..(Like- EEG, ECG, ECHO )

5) Yes ,, Many way are present in every health care institution to identify those patients who are on anticoagulant therapy... The ways may be-Wristband,any sign to identifying them differently etc..

6) Complications Of Anticoagulant Therapy -

  • Severe Bleeding
  • Hypersensitivity Reaction like- fever, skin rash,Redness of skin
  • Alopecia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Thrombocytopenia etc..
