The prescription and administration of medications is a high risk area in hospital and ambulatory medical operations. Please focus in performing risk assessments.Write a 2-3 page double-spaced paper. Identify risks associated with medication administration, estimate the likelihood of each risk, and to develop risk mitigation strategies applicable to the case study "Children's Hospital and Clinics." How are the risks of medication administration different in children's hospitals than adult hospitals?
Risks associated with medication adminstration, is frequent interruptions and the need for nurses to travel significant distances during the medication adminstrationprocess and relative ease of access to medictions by unauthorized peersons( if the chart is not locked after each opening) and the potential for confusion and error when several nurses need to access drawers on one cart at the same time.and risks for IV adminstrations are infections, infiltration, air embolism, phlebitis and blood clot etc ,The risks are different in children hospital than adult hospitals are that children are more at risk of the deletrious effects of drug errors because they have not physiologically matured and immatured liver and renal functions, if the drugs are more adminstered can increase the circulating level of a drug beyond what would be expected in adults this characteristics supersedes differences in body surface area, cariac functions, and ability to verbalize complaints.
