I am finding this question tricky: A competitive swimmer will use primarily energy from:
a.Fats
b.Carbohydrates
c.Proteins
Correct option is B - Carbohydrates
Because carbohydrates are primary source of energy in competitive swimmer, as carbohydrates yeilds and store lot of energy for athletes ( competitive swimmers) to be able to compete at their optimal and desirable level. For athelete like competitive swimmers carbohydrates are foundation of one's diet as they provide most energy expenditure and stored for longer time. Also adviced to take half of meal as carbs in competitive athletes .Because carbohydrates will be used as primarily energy source
Other options are incorrect - as option A is fat which is to be taken in other half of diet along with proteins , minerals and vitamins . Though fats provide more energy than carbohydrates but body needs little fat and extra fat is deposited and fat's breakdown is not as efficient for body as carbohydrates. Fats enriched body for competitive swimmer make it difficult to swim properly as to swim it is best to have lighter body in upper body parts . Thus competitive swimmers will use primarily energy from carbohydrates and not fat.
Option c is also incorrect because protein whivh is mainly adviced in competitive swimmers are lean protein to build muscles mass acting as body building food and not source of energy. So protein is also incorrect option
