In an effort to increase access to healthcare, I have come up with a few ideas to aid the access to healthcare, expanding.
The following strategies are my ideas to improve access to healthcare.
-Expanding office hours, this would benefit those who are unable to take time off from the normal work day, in order to attend an appointment. Taking time off from work is not always applicable, and these extended hours would ensure that those who can afford to receive treatment, have the ability to do so.
-Expansion of Telehealth services, and appointments, this would aid those who are unable to physically come into the doctor’s office, due to a lack of transportation. This would mostly just benefit those of the population who have a lack of transportation, but the ability to access the internet, or use a smart phone.
-Ride sharing/ the use of Uber and Lyft, and being able to bill the third-party transportation to your health insurance, or Medicare/ Medicaid. This could provide access to those who don’t have transportation, or the use of the internet, to attend doctors’ visits, pick up prescriptions, and then returning them to their home.
-The last is pop-up clinics, although idealistic, if pop-up clinics could be implemented, and somehow funded, they could benefit those who do not have adequate access to healthcare within a reasonable distance to them, or even access to a primary care physician that they could see, souly to be referred to a specialist for their specific condition.
If these were all attainable, I need to be able to understand the following answers to these strategies.
I need to be able to evaluate the strategies, and activities that will be implemented through the following;
a.) Quantitative & qualitative methods described
b.) Research design method described
Any information, recommendations, or ideas would be appreciated, as I am having a hard time understanding how to reach the previously stated questions. Thank you!
a) Quantitative and qualitative methods refer to the types of research methods that are used for collecting and analyzing the data. Quantitative method involves various statistical or mathematical tools for analyzing numeric data in order to gain valuable information. In this regard, data will be collected on the extra time employees are spending after the office hours, of people unable to visit the doctor’s office, people not having access to adequate healthcare and the people not having their own transport. On the other hand, the qualitative research method is the process of gaining a deeper insight into the population using non-statistical methods such as in-depth interviews, focus groups, observations and others. Thus, data will be collected about the preference of people visiting either doctor’s office or getting treatment at homes, availing Uber of their own transports and preference of spending excess hours in the office for treatment.
b) A research design provides a systematic approach for conducting the entire research with the help of various methods and techniques. An effective research design ensures that there exist no biases in the study and enhances the trust in the analyzed information. For the above case study, various types of research designs can be chosen. Questionnaires can be helpful for gaining relevant quantitative information while in-depth interviews would be suitable for obtaining qualitative information.
If you liked the answer please give an up-vote, this will be quite encouraging for me, thank you!!
