Yield point is a point which is normally indicated on the stress strain curve. Yield point tell us about the elastic limit of a particular material.

It means that before the yield point if the stress on a material is removed that it will return to its elastic behavior. However, if the stress on the material is applied beyond this point than the material will become plastic.
