PHC 281
1.Make a list of three things you do to protect your health.
2.Now list three things you do which are injurious to your health.
3.What do the two lists tell you about health protective behaviors and behavioral pathogens?
4.How would you change two of the behaviors on the ‘dangerous list’?
5.Are there barriers to making that change? What could you do to overcome these?
1. Three things I certainly do to protect my health are :-
1) to consume a balanced diet, that is, least saturated and trans fat more of fibre, fruits and vegetables. Plenty of fluid intake.
2) perform adequate exercise and physical activity regularly
3) Limit my alchol consumption and refrain from any form of tobacco.
4) Get regular screening test and checkups.
2) three things i do that are injurious to my health are :
1) compromising on the number of hours i sleep due to overworking.
2) taking undue stress and worries about monthly budgets, office work, family etc.
3) abusing pain killers and sedatives. Pain killers to combat headache from prolonged hours on the screen be it laptop or phone and sedatives to help me fall asleep when all the white light from the screens gives me insomnia.
3. The two lists tells that though I tend to exercise and eat healthy, I am least protective about the cumulative, long term effects of the behavioural pathogens that less sleep and stress are.
4. I would try to cut down on my budget or refrain from overspending so that I don't have to work extra hours to make ends meet. This synergistically will cut down on my dosage of pain killers and sedatives as I will have less work load hence less headache.
