1) Epidemiological triangle - is a model for explaining the organism causing the disease and the conditions that allow it to reproduce and spread .
The elements of epidemiological triangle are -

a) external agent - referred to as an infectious microorganism or pathogen , a virus , bacteria, parasite or other microbe .
b) Host - refers to the human who can get the disease.
c) Environment- refers to the extrinsic factors that affect the agent and the opportunity for exposure .

2) Communicable disease - It is any disease that passes between people or animals . People sometimes refers to it as "infectious "or "transmissible " disease . Example - Hepatitis A,B,C , influenza , measles , salmonella , HIV , tuberculosis. The nurse role in preventing them are -

a) informing individuals of disease risk and ways to prevent disease occurrence .
b) locate immunisation history

c) recommend and schedule screening.
