Question 1)
Experimental Method: Systematic method in which the researcher manipulates 1 or more variables and analyses any change taking place in other variables.
The advantages include: control over irrelevant variables is generally higher than that in other methods, helps in establishing a cause and effect relationship between the dependent and independent variable.
Disadvantages: elimination of extraneous variables is not possible every time, the entire situation of experiment may not relate to the real world.
Correlation Method: It includes collection of data to assess whether and to what level does a relationship exist between 2 quantifiable variables.
Advantages include: It allows a researcher to collect much more information as compared to the experimental method; the results of the research tend to be more relatable to everyday life because the reseach is conducted outside the lab.
Disadvantages include: It only tells us about the relationship but not why the relationship exists; It does not tell us which variable influences the other
Clinical Method: It involves measuring the effectiveness of a drug, medical device or human body. It is often conducted in hospitals, medical facility, labs etc.
Advantages include: it helps a researcher to conduct trials on real time basis
Disadvantage: it might not be possible to get the right subject for testing
Survey Method: the researcher studies the entire population with regard to certain sociological/psychological variables by conducting surveys
Advantages include: wide scope as hige amounts of data can be obtained, inter-disciplinary value
Disadvantages: not in-depth survey, very time consuming.
