The similarity between both the cell lies in the ability to control gene expression. And turn on and off the mechanism depending on the need of the cell. The difference between them is that the gene expression mainly regulated at the transcription level in prokaryotes while the gene expression in eukaryotes involves many levels.
Gene regulation mechanisms in prokaryotes and eukaryotes are
different. The Eukaryotic gene expression is more complex than
prokaryotic gene expression it is because the transcription and
translation process occurs in different compartments of the cell,
while in prokaryotes it occurs simultaneously. The structure of
prokaryotes are similar then the multicellular complex structure.
It lacks a cell nucleus and DNA floats in the cytoplasm. Thus the
transcription and translation both occur simultaneously in that
portion of the cell which has suspended cell organelles in it,
called cytoplasm.
Eukaryotic cell involves the modified gene expression which
includes post transcription and posttranslational.
