What does it mean for tRNA to be activated and how does this process occur?

Solutions

Expert Solution

tRNA is activated by its amino acid for protein synthesis. The process of tRNA activation includes binding of each tRNA molecule to a specific amino acid with the help of tRNA activating enzyme. It is a two step process.Firstly,tRNA activating enzyme binds ATP to the specific amino acid and form a complex known as an amino acid- AMP complex. Is is formed with high energy bond.Secondly, that acid is attached to tRNA and in all this process AMP is released.tRNA molecule left behind is highly charged as a result of high energy bond formed with the help of ATP.This energied tRNA molecule is now available to use for protein synthesis.
