What is dispersal and how does it occur?
answer to question :
since you have not mentioned which dispersal is being asked (e.g., seed ) , i will simply explain what is dispersal .?
so ,DISPERSAL : In simple words dispersal can be defined as spreading away of any substance or people or seeds or pollens in a wide range of area , which results in the movement of these from one place to another .
e.g., seed dispersal : it is the spreading or movement of seeds from the parent plant which has produced these seeds to other plants , away from the parent plant , so that fertilization could take place .
dispersal is very useful and essential in many cases, like one stated above , it basically helps in preventing the crowding , at one place and helps spreading equally in all directions .
HOW DOES DISPERSAL OCCURS :
There are many ways by wich dispersal could occur like:
1. wind ( in case of pollens or seeds): wind is a great and one of the most common way of dispersal. it easily takes Along with it the seeds as seeds are light in weight . wind can only be used as source of dispersal for the objects and organisms , which are not heavy and large sized.
2. water : water can also serve as agreat medium for dispersal .e.g., lily plant.
3. animals : there are also certain animals which help in seed dipersal , some seeds have hooked spines , which stick to the hair or fair of animals and migrate to different locations with them.
4. FORCE : even by mechanical force or some other forces dispersal can take place.
ways of population dispersal :
population dispersal can occur via , MIGRATION (immigration or emigration ) or due to some breeding , dispersal might occur in animal population
