Therapeutic action:This drug in simple acts by making the calcium to move into the cells .This causes contraction of the heart.As a result increasing the pumping volume and increased blood supply to the body parts.It balances the sodium and potassium in the heart cells as a result the heart rate is maintained in range.

Indication

• Heart failure
• Atrial fibrillation

Dose:

Adult:0.125_0.5mg/day

Pediatrics:infants:25mcg/kg/day

Adverse effects

• GIT: nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhoea
• CNS: dizziness, headache
• Integumentary:rash
• Sensory:blurred vision

Interaction

• Antifungal
