Foot Binding was a practice that originated from the upper class court dancers in China which spread quickly among the upper class women. It is about binding the feet so tightly that it shrinks and the shrunk feet would be called the lotus feet which stood as a status symbol and beauty. Although foot binding limited the women’s movement and caused disability, it was still practiced due to its status symbol.
