Answer: all of the above
Factors that contribute to spread of fires after an earthquake-
* Fire has been recognized as a major hazard following the earthquake. Provides chances of ignition, earthquake can block access to fire fighting equipment, blazes so that they can be across the city.
Therefore, we highlighted the danger of the urban fires following the earthquake.
1) The most common is the automobile congestion.
2when there is massive earthquake reported, there are large amount of debris and cars in the pathway. These all worked but massive to pipping system and road congestion made it very difficult to access these reserves.
3) many buildings get lost to fires , so eventually the fires are overwhelmed by the number of fires.the most famous earthquakes initiated fires in the us history burned much of the city of San Francisco in 1906.upto 90% of the building damage .
4)unfortunately, this is also a time when the risk of fire could be higher than normal .further after an earthquake, there is increased possibility of the area wide fires, and uncertainty of availability of the fire suppression .
5)when earthquake even comes , we are mostly focused on the visual striking structures failure, but they largely ignore the majority buildings that can be quickly returned to productive operations, these buildings remain standing, but may be experienced damage, fires, or impair sprinkler system.
6)It is important to recognize that minor changes in conditions that can make a big difference in the number of fires and outcome.a notable example in northern California 1992, when an uncontrolled fire burned to the ground as FM global .multiple breaks in underground piping caused a fire pump to overheat and shut down when cooling was lost, depriving the sprinkler system of water to control fire.multiple post earthquake and physical damage can delay the fire service and reduce or exhaust the water supply.
Therefore , we can conclude that all of the above factors contribute to the spread of fires.
