the self concept is the understanding of one's own belief, golas and values of life. it is a characteristics of personality and is spread across all ages. this is negatively proportionate to age, which means that as the age increases, the self concept decreases. the middle age.

the three characteristics of self concept in middle age include self clarity, self awareness and self complexity. self complexity is the characteristic that help people to respond positively to any events. self awareness is the characteristic that keeps an individual different from others in terms of schemas. self clarity is the process by which an individual is clear about his ways of adapting with challenges.

the change in self concept in middle aged people who undergo depression could be due to changes or untoward events in job status, marital and interpersonal relationships, economic conditions and helath related issues. in this regard, the person blame self and have thoughts of guilt, sin and negation. this could lead to extreme irritation and frustration. menopause is the stoppage of mensus in middle aged women aged more than 50 years. this is a crucial period which comprises changes in physiological and emotional status. this could lead to extreme mood swings, feeling low, and later leads to depression depending on the living standards.
