►How positivism and post-positivism influence the different approaches (qualitative and quantitative) to nursing science and nursing practice.
a- According to Megan McGaham, personal philosophy is the root of commitment to public service and the undeniable desire to help those in need. Nursing is something that focused on delivering quality and patient care and is more than treating an illness
b- It helps to think in a more critical way and also increases a better understanding and reflect on how their own values influence their practice and way of being.
c- Philosophical foundations influence nursing practice by-
i- increasing the ethical care of patients.
ii- exploring non-scientific questions.
iii- increasing the understanding of organizational policies and procedures.
d- Positivism connects the links between practice and research and remains fundamental to nursing practice in hospitals and communities as well.
Post-positivism is a metatheoretical stance that assessment and compensates positivism and believes that the researcher and the researched person are independent of each other.
