Construct the horizontal bar chart for the number of pets in the United States by using MINITAB, which is shown in figure below.

 

MINITAB Procedure:

Step 1: Choose Graph > Bar Chart.

Step 2: From Bars represent, choose Values from a table.

Step 3: Under One column of values, choose Simple. Click OK.

Step 4: In Graph variables, enter Number.

Step 5: In Categorical variable, enter Type.

Step 6: Click OK.

 

MINITAB output:

 

Observation:

From above figure, it is clear that the fish in the United States have the maximum number since the horizontal bar of Fish is higher when compared to other pets in the United States.

 

Vertical Bar graph

Construct the vertical bar chart for the number of pets in the United States by using MINITAB, which is shown in figure below.

 

MINITAB Procedure:

Step 1: Choose Graph > Bar Chart.

Step 2: From Bars represent, choose Values from a table.

Step 3: Under One column of values, choose Simple. Click OK.

Step 4: In Graph variables, enter Number.

Step 5: In Categorical variable, enter Type.

Step 6: In Scale, Choose Transpose value and category scales.

Step 7: Click OK.

Observation:

From above figure, it is clear that the fish in the United States have the maximum number since the vertical bar of Fish is higher when compared to other pets in the United States.
