1. Why do you think Type 2 Diabetes is so preventable?

2. If you were required to design a teaching tool for diabetes, what would you include as interventions for prevention?

1)the diabetes mellitus is the chronic disease condition affecting the glucose metabolism. The diabetes mellitus are two type that is type 1 and type 2.type 1 is caused by destruction of Pancreatic cell that produces insulin caused by autoimmune disease . Type 2 diabetes is caused by insulin resistance in the body.it is mainly seen in adult.

:type 1 is not preventable

:type 2 diabetes is preventable because excessive weight gain, obesity, sedentary life style all are contributed to put a person at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. These all risk factors are modifiable and if we put changes in those risk factors definitely help to prevent type 2 Diabetes later in life.

2)intervention to prevent Type 2 diabetes mellitus .

The use of effective lifestyle changes associated with decrease the occurance of diabetes for high risk patient. Lot of intervention are there to prevent type 2 Diabetes  It include ,

:follow healthy diet___low fat nutrients rich food include whole grains, cereals, breads, fruits and vegetables, lean protein and diary products are useful to reduce weight and hence prevent the type 2 diabetes mellitus .

:avoid intake of sugar filled food and beverage ___the processed food and beverages like soda, juices and iced tea is more associated with developing diabetes. If we can avoid this kind of foods we can prevent the disease effectively.

:increase fiber intake___it improves glucose metabolism and reduce the risk of developing DM later life

:check risk for Diabetes mellitus___it help to identify the problem early and manage as early as possible.

:encourage physical activity ___exercising and increased physical activity help to maintain ideal body weight and help to prevent type 2 diabetes .

:avoid alcohol and quit smoking __alcohol intake and smoking is the risk factors for Type 2 diabetes. Avoiding of this risk factors help to prevent the occurance of type 2 diabetes.

:controll stress level ___it is also helpful to prevent the occurance of disease.
