Type 2 diabetes used to be prevalent only in adults and was once called adult - onset diabetes. Now that its becoming more common in children its simply called type 2 diabetes.type1 diabetes is more common in children and young adults and it's believed to be caused by an autoimmune reaction.

Due to the complex and multifactorial treatments needs of the disease patients need sufficient understanding of disease process and education in self managing T2DM.there are many constraints to diabetic education in the primary Care setting such as time and numerous educational needs.Ina typical diabetic visit health care providers are faced with thirty minutes of care for the Patient .in that time patient may need a complete physical assessment,collection or review of lab results,and medication adjustment.these time constraints are challenging for the Patient to have enough time to process the information,identify the areas of knowledge deficit, and ask questions.diabetes self management education programm are available to members of the community and have proven to be beneficial for T2DM patients .

DSME incorporates standard curricular elements such as disease process and treatment options, nutritional management,physical activity,medication use, blood glucose monitoring,prevention and detection of acute and chronic complications , and strategies to address psychosocial issues and to promote healthy behaviors.

Adhere to treatment at the national level, confidentiality is based on terms that a patient should not fear to seek any medical treatment or advice since the doctor will not disclose any of the patients conditions. The importance of confidentiality is to make the patient feel comfortable when itcomes to treatment and also in providing any necessary information required by the doctor.confidentiality enable the doctor to give the patient the right diagnosis and provide the best medical care.
