What is the prevalence of adults with type 2 diabetes that do not participate in Diabetic Self Management Education and adhere to treatment at the National Level? citation
Type 2 diabetes is the type of diabetes in which the body produces insulin resistance and thus it affects different parts of the body. Hence, it becomes very important to monitor all the bodily parameters and general conditions of the patients. There are associations like Diabetes self-management education (DSME), whose services are required by the participants, for health related outcomes. [1] This is said so because in many cases of type 2 diabetes, the patient may have numerous health issues, the resolution to which needs medical attention. However, it has been observed that little above 47% adults who are suffering from type 2 diabetes does not approach DSMEs. [2] The reasons to this can be attributed to education, the race of people, previous visits, if any. The program availability of DSME was believed to be a strong factor, though it is not so. [3, 4] Properly speaking, DSME contributes a lot , in terms of keeping records of patients, minor issue resolution. The employees need to be sensitised about the facilities and ensure their active participation.
