-Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a general term for conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels,there is increased risk of fat deposits in arteries leading to coronary artery disease (CAD), strokes, aortic disease, peripheral artery disease.
-Risk factors of CVD include:
-High Blood pressure,diabetes,smoking,high cholestrol levels,obesity,alcohol,familial risks.
-Risk profile of CVD can be improved by:
-quitting smoking,maintaining healthy diet with low levels of sugar,salts,fats and cut down alcohol
-regular physical activity and maintain proper weight
-eat healthy fats, fibres, plenty of fruits and vegetables
-prescribed medications such as aspirin to reduce blood clots, clot busters statins to lower blood cholesterol
-one should definitely discuss risk profile with healthcare provider because he prescribes proper medical approach to treat CVD and its risk factors and help in improving our risk profile
-Ethnicity does play a role as one of risk factor in risk profile because CVD is more common in Africa or Carribean , south asian countries such as in India as people here are more likely to have risk factors such as cholesterol, BP, obesity,diabetes
