Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans) The steroids administered to improve athletic performance should be used with caution. The steroids are injected intramuscular wheras the vitamin pills are mostly taken in the oral form except vitamin B12 and vitamin D if there is severe deficiency of these vitamins.Nowadays, anabolic steroids also come in the oral form like menabol, dianabol, anavar, etc. There are potent side effects of taking anabolic steroids wheras taking vitamin pills and nutritional supplements like whey protein, bcaa (branched chain amino acids), creatine, glutamine supplements are usually safe.

The bodybuilders who use anabolic steroids will result in the suppression of the testosterone levels in the body after the steroid cycle. During the cycle, the testosterone levels increase more than 10 times. The body is getting exogenous source of testosterone so the body stops the ability to produce testosterone inside the body. Thus, after the steroid use, shrinkage of testes, erectile dysfunction, libido etc is experienced because the body loses the ability to synthesize testosterone. But, in majority of cases, the body retains the ability to synthesize testosterone but it may take from 6-12 months.
