To track whether the body is holding too much fluid, weigh daily.
Monitoring weight daily is important for a patient with a risk of increased fluid volume. Use the same scale every day at the same time preferable after urinating in the morning. Wear the same amount of clothing each day. Weight gain If 3 pounds or more pound in 3 days or more than 5 pounds in a week means fluid is retaining. So for a patient with fluid retention risk, monitor the weight daily to find the fluid overload.
Often 1 to 1.5 litre of water is recommended for a heart failure patient. Without proper intervention increasing diuretic dose might produce potential risk. Skin turgor indicates fluid loss and dehydration.
