what is pancreatitis and what is the basic mechanism that underlines the condition?
Pancreatitis is inflammation pancreatic gland.
Pancreas is a long flat gland at the upper abdomen behind the stomach. It releases stong enzymes into the small intestine for digestion
Sometimes these enzymes becomes activated inside the pancreas before there release into the intestine which causes damage to the pancreatic cells and thus inflammation.
This mainly is caused by heavy use of alcohol, gallstones, tumor or certain drugs.
