Complementary & alternative therapy is that type of therapy that are not the part of standard treatment or that extends beyond the standard western treatment. Complementary therapy is used in conjunction with standard care, & alternative care is less conventional methods of treatment.

Using conventional therapy is safer than Complementary therapy, as Complementary therapy has more side effects than conventional therapies, but people uses Complementary medicines instead of conventional therapy because it takes little long time for recovery.

For minor ailments people uses Complementary medicines as they need the fast recovery because of workload.

As per my views alternative therapy is more safe than Complementary medicines, as these therapies has negligible side effects. Alternative therapy helps in maintaining sleep, nutrition & stress.

The most popular alternative healing therapies are as:

  • Acupuncture : In Acupuncture needles are inserted at specific points that are linked with various body functions which balances, slow down or stimulates certain energies thus provide healing.
  • Acupressure : In acupressure correct amount of pressure is applied on energy Centre points with the help of hands, elbows or other devices to release blockage & promote healing.
  • Ayurveda : it uses herbal remedies, meditation, deep breathing & yoga that helps to live in harmony with environment.
  • Aromatherapy : It uses aroma of essential oils, to improve healing & emotional well-being.
  • Homeopathy : homeopathy believes that disease is cured by the same thing by which disease is caused when used in less amounts.
