The SDGs are a set of 17 goals set for resolving some of the most pressing problems ailing the world on the various social, economic and environmental fronts.

In an increasingly global world, having such specific international development goals helps various Governmental and Non-Governmental organisations across the world in making better use of the limited resources available at their disposal. Thee challenges faced on the environmental front or the gender front are widely prevalent in almost all the countries. Having such clear specific goals reduces the ambiguities surrounding these issues and creates a sense of importance and urgency in the Nations to take action on these fronts.

Having specific goals and systems of measuring the change also helps in keeping track of the progress made. Without these goals and measurements systems, it would be that much more difficult to highlight the economic and social disparities plaguing the most vulnerable countries and raise resources from global organizations and other developed countries.

While having SDGs alone isn't a magical solution to all the troubles ailing the world, they definitely go a long way in making the world a safer, healthier and equal one.
