Poverty is not just caused by individual circumstances but by major inequalities built into the structure of Australian socity.some of the main causes of this inequality and povert are access to work and income.education ,housing health and services.
The effect of poverty on as individual can be multiple and various.problems like poor nutrition,poor health, lack of housing,delinquency,a poor quality education and the choice of having a positive or negative response to your situation can be one of the outcomes of poverty.this is especially true for indigenous people in Australia.
The impact of poverty with in family, living in poverty often means having limited access to healthcare food and housing security,higher risk of school drops-out for chioldren,homeless unemployment due to lack of education or child care and unfortunetly not reaching one's full potential.

Disempowerment is when an individual or a group of people get discriminated upon by other,powerfull indiduals.this type of behaviour can acyually make the people/group feels less powerful or confident.a person who suffers from low self esteem can start to feel wortghless and not valued,this can lead to depression.
