Cultural competence is the capability to understand people of different cultures and communicate effectively with them. Cultural competence in healthcare is about acknowledging and respecting people with different cultural backgrounds having diverse beliefs and values. It means having knowledge of oneself and one's own views about the world while having a positive attitude to other cultures, practices, and views. In healthcare, this requires skills to support the care of people belonging to different cultures.

It can affect evaluation steps like engaging stakeholders, including those involved in program operations, those served or affected by the program, and primary users of the evaluation in several ways. It influences health practices, its stakeholders including providers in program operations, and the patients who are served or affected by the program and their perception of illness. The stakeholders’ awareness, knowledge, attitude, and skills are affected by giving them all these necessary requirements for culturally competent care as they get adapted to diversity.

The community health program, firm-footed on cultural competence, helps in the identification of the culturally-diverse needy and understanding their need. This wellness program aimed at a healthy community without any bias in the treatment rendered to its members expects to reach its goal through prevention as well as cure. Cultural competence aids in designing and implementing services that are tailored to the unique requirements of culturally diverse individuals and families so that all are able to cooperate and reach the goal. Activities include community health education, exercise programs, healthy diet/weight goals, vaccination, and cure of people with lifestyle diseases utilizing the government as well as charity resources to support the financially backward members. It is more than halfway towards its goal utilizing the resources and community support.
