For the definitions please include the equations to:
A:Give a definition of the torque as a vector. Briefly describe torque.
B: Give a definition of the angular acceleration. Briefly describe angular acceleration.
C: Give a definition of the moment of inertia.
A.The torque produced by a force takes the form of a vector product.
Torque is a measure of how much a force acting on an object causes that object to rotate.
B Angular acceleration, also called rotational acceleration, is a quantitative expression of the change in angular velocity that a spinning object undergoes per unit time. It is a vectorquantity, consisting of a magnitude component and either of two defined directions or senses.
C
oment of Inertia (Mass Moment of Inertia) - I - is a measure of an object's resistance to changes in rotation direction. Moment of Inertia has the same relationship to angular acceleration as mass has to linear acceleration.
For a point mass the Moment of Inertia is the mass times the square of perpendicular distance to the rotation reference axis and can be expressed as
I = m r2 (1)
where
I = moment of inertia (lbm ft2, kg m2)
m = mass (lbm, kg)
r = distance between axis and rotation mass (ft, m)
