Cognitive development - Schaie's theory
It's state that cognitive development take place in middle adulthood.
1. Acquisition stage : (childhood and adolescence) Person acquired more complex way of thinking.
2. Achieving stage (young adulthood )
It involved problem solving and decision making and individual choose appropriate career based on their intellectual competencies.
3. Responsibility stage (adulthood )
Individual needs to be an independent thinker
4. Executive stage (middle adulthood )
Enable to handle responsible position through increase knowledge.
5. Reintegrative stage(late adulthood )
Individual must use accumulated repertoire of intellectual skills to assess life and give meaning to what is the past.
6. Reorganizational stage : people entered retirement life they reorganized their life.
7. Legacy stage Near the end of life older people create instruction for the disposition of prized possession, make funeral arrangement.
