What is Jean Piaget theory position/view on egocentric speech and how it impact's human development?
Jean Piaget suggests two things about the egocentric speech in his theory of cognitive development. This is common with children from the age between 2-7. One of the most important characteristics of egocentric speech is that children would engage themselves with objects and talk to them alone. This would mean that they would practice their language, thoughts and learning with their toys and other objects around them. This is one of the most important things about the human brain development. Secondly, children wouldn’t be able to understand the viewpoints of others because they would be forced to act on their impulses and ego which would make them to be adamant. This would mean that they would hold on to their own opinion without considering the opinions of others although it would help them develop a sense of autonomy and self-confidence. However, this tendency would disappear as they experience and explore their environment and as they mature.
