Unfavorable changes with time and due to various metabolic processes in body composition have long been observed with aging. Loss of lean mass (LM) and accumulation of abdominal fat are most important changes that continuously take place in all adults and individuals as they age. All these events have been found to be associated with an increased risk of the development of type 2 diabetes in older adults. This is of high importance from a public health perspective where aging of the population specially developed countries is considered a factor contributing to the global burden of type 2 diabetes. The pattern and rate of age-related changes in body composition will vary by sex, race, region, physical activity level, diet and caloric intake. Recent evidences from longitudinal studies have shown differences in the pattern of body composition changes in adults by diabetes status. In this article, we reviewed body composition changes that take place in adults after the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and compared them to those observed in adults without diabetes as they age.

* Regular exercises program: adult should encourage to maintain regular physical activites to avoid the accumulation of abdominal fat. Regular exercises also provide strength to muscles, prevent muscle waste.
* Balanced diet: As the age advances the demand of body changes for nutrition. Adult with diabetes should provide sugar-free diet low carbohydrate diet. Advice never skip meals. Skipping meals can lead to hypoglycemia.
* Regular checkup: Should be adviced to see your doctor for eye check up, blood sugar level can be check at home regularly and regular medication intake is necessary.
