Case Study Scenario
Sam Elliott, age 57, has gained 30 lbs since his retirement 2 years ago. The most active thing he does is "puttering around" and "walking" to the end of the driveway to get the mail. "His diet includes juice, oatmeal, muffin, and coffee with cream for breakfast; donuts and coffee with friends midmorning; a bolongna-and-cheese sandwich with chips and a root beer for lunch; and cheese, crackers, and wine before a dinner of meat, potatoes, vegetables, and dessert. He tells the nurse, " I have never had to diet. I just don't know how to get this weight off."

Fist of all for putting off the weight the person has to go in calorie deficit rather than going into the surplus which the person in the scenario is seeming to have.for weight loss low calorie and high nutrition diet is very beneficial.as the person is a male he must reduce 500-700 calories from the RDA.

As per the scenario going with the chronology of the person he is having a very low physical activities in his daily life.a good amount of physical activities like walking for an hour or havi h a morning jogging or some workout or aerobics will be very helpful in puuting of the weight as well as it will lead to lowering the risk of heart diseases which the person is more likely to develop.

In his breakfast juice ,oatmeal and coffee are a good choice but muffins with cream arent that good for health and they will send to increase more fat and Chloestrol in the persons body.A healthy breakfast must be high in proteins.in addition to the oats the person can have eggs(specially egg white),yoghurt, fresh fruits, almonds, avocado, apple, blackberries, raspberries eic.

In the midmorning, the person can have fruits with green tea.Green tea increases fat burning and improves physical performance.

In the lunch, green salad, tomatoes, olives, hummus, vegetable sandwich, boiled white beans, roasted anchovies, garbanzo beans etc. can be utilized

In the dinner vegetables, potatoes are ok but there has to be other heathy things like baked salmon, sardines etc.,green vegetables like spinach, oven roasted vegetables like tomatoes carrots, artichoke can also be helpful.
