STAGE 3B LUNG CANCER COMES UNDER THE MAIN CATAGORY STAGE 3 OF LUNG CANCER .STAGES OF A LUNG CANCER IS MAINLY DIVIDED IN TO 4 STAGES; STAGE 1, STAGE2, STAGE3 AND STAGE 4

THE STAGE OF LUNG CANER TELLS WHERE THE DISEASE HAS BEEN SPREAD AND HELPS THE DOCTOR TO DECIDE THE REQUIRED TREATMENT. STAGE 3 OF LUNG CANCER CAN BE AGAIN DIVIDED IN TO THREE:

STAGE 3A

IN THIS STAGE CANCER GROWTH IS UP TO 5CM TO 7CM SIZE AND HAS SPREAD TO LYMPH NODES IN THE CENTER OF THE CHEST.

STAGE 3B

STAGE 3B OF LUNG CANCER MEANS THAT THE LUNG TUMOUR GROWTH IS MORE THAN 7CM . THERE MAY BE MORE THAN ONE TUMOUR IN THE SAME LUNGS THE CANCER HAS SPREAD TO THE LYMPH NODES IN THE CENTER OF THE CHEST . THE CANCER HAS ALSO BEEN SPREAD TO THE MAJOR PORTIONS OF THE CHEST SUCH AS THE WIND PIPE , THE HEART ,THE FOOD PIPE, THE MAIN BLOOD VESSELS , THE DIAPRAGM BELOW THE LUNGS , THE CHEST WALL AND THE LAYERS THAT COVER THE HEART. CANCER MAY SPREAD TO LYMPH NODES ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE  OF CHEST.

SATGE 3C

DURING STAGE 3C CANCER HAS AFFECTED THE FOLLOWING ORGANS SUCH AS THE NERVES CLOSE TO THE LUNGS, THE COVERING OF THE HEART KOWN AS PARIETAL PERICARDIUM, THE NERVE GOING TO THE VOCAL BOX, A SPINAL BONE, THE PLACE WHERE THE WIND PIPE DIVIDES , LYMPH NODES ABOVE THE COLLAR BONE.

PROGNOSIS OF STAGE 3 OF LUNG CANCER:

IN A STUDY CONDUCTED OVER 81000 PATIENTS WITH LUNG CANCER FOUND THAT 19% TO 24% OF PATIENTS WITH STAGE 3A WERE ALIVE FOR FIVE YEARS AFTER THEY WERE DIAGONISED.AND FOR STAGE 3B , 7% TO 9% OF PATIENTS WERE ALIVE FOR FIVE YEARS AFTER THEY WERE DIAGONISED WITH THE DISEASE . ALTHOUGH SOME PATIENTS WITH STAGE 3B HAVE CANCER THAT SPREAD ONLY TO A SINGLE SITE CAN BE TREATED BY DOING A SURGERY OR A RADIATION THERAPY. SYSTEMIC THERAPY WITH CHEMOTHERAPY OR A TARGETED THERAPY IS THE MAIN TREATMENTS DONE FOR PATIENTS WITH 3B LUNG CANCER .

STAGE 3B LUNG CANCER HAS NOT HISTORICALLY CONSIDERED CURABLE . BUT NOWADAYS THE ADVANCEMENTS IN TREATMENTS AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW CHEMOTHERAPY DRUGS ARE PROLONGING SURVIVAL AND REDUCING THE CANCER SYMPTOMS.
