Answer:

Emotional intelligence has been defined, by Peter Salovey and John Mayer, as "the ability to monitor one's own and other people's emotions, to discriminate between different emotions and label them appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior".

Following are the John Maxwell's 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership that goes in line with Emotional Intelligence.

Law #8: The Law of Intuition: Leaders can evaluate people's attitude and use them accordingly. This is the trait of emotional intelligence where different emotions can be identified, controlled and comprehend it. Leaders look beyond the people's sight. They can see opportunities or troubles forthcoming. Likewise, leaders can estimate what's happening at the level of people.

Law #10: Law of Connection: Connection is from heart. Unless there is connection with the peers, leaders cannot achieve the targets. Connection brings influence and sense of belonging-ness. All that is emotional trait.

Law #12: Law of Empowerment: Leaders help others to overcome emotional set-back because leaders can read and evaluate the emotions. Leaders give powers to others to get the things done. Encourage others to win. Empower them with the tools of success.

Law #17: The Law of Priorities: Law says, priority must be given to the activities which are most important. It is not only activities, followers also become the priority for any great leader. Because they are the ones who work at ground level. Getting people on board to navigate to success is the most important task. This job requires high level of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence also includes guiding emotional information towards thinking and behavior. Making people think in the way leaders think is the product or emotional intelligence.

Law #18: Law of Sacrifice: During the time of perks, power and return from winning, leaders must sacrifice the credit and distribute it amongst the followers. This is a part of emotional intelligence only. Leaders to stay up, have to sacrifice a lot.

Law #21: Law of Legacy: Leaders often have to think about what they are leaving back. People summarize past leaders in shortest sentence. Hence, the footprints a leader has to leave must be positive. In order to do this, first control over emotions is needed.
