Overview: “Personal Philosophy of Nursing”
In this module’s Assignment, you will draft a formal paper expressing your personal philosophy of nursing paper. In this paper, you will provide a framework for your personal practice of nursing and reflect on why you chose nursing as a profession. Your paper will define how you interact with patients, family members, other nurses, and other health care professionals.
Nursing is all about the patient. It's a career that helps me
save lives, bring happiness to individuals and their families, and
comfort to those in need. While caring for patients fighting for
their life can be a challenging experience, nurses still report a
high level of job satisfaction.
Dealing with patients and their families and helping them through
what is often a difficult time for them is extremely satisfying for
me.
We are distinct from other healthcare providers as we have a wide
scope of practice and approach to medical care.
Interaction with-
▪Patients:-Smile and use a calm and welcoming voice. Provide
comfort when they need to be comforted. Always show respect to
patients. Understanding who are in need then i(nurse) connect with
them and will make the patients feel more comfortable while
receiving care and treatment.
▪Family members:- to avoid distractions (we know it's almost
impossible for a nurse, but even for a few seconds). Don't
interrupt. Slow down, and take a moment to understand what the
patient's loved ones are saying. Take in not only the words, but
also the visual cues from their facial expressions or body
language.
Other nurses and professionals:- Collaboration between physicians,
nurses, and other health care professionals increases team members'
awareness of each others' type of knowledge and skills, leading to
continued improvement in decisionmaking. Effective teams are
characterized by trust, respect, and collaboration.
