Q: Why is modern-day Japan experiencing a decrease in birthrate and how can they fix it? Explain in 300 words.
• Introduction
Provide a brief introduction to the issue or problem. This is important if the general public does not have much understanding to give them background. For your thesis (opinion or point of view), state what you think needs to change or be done.
• Point1: Acknowledge opposing arguments
Include a section that explains the argument in opposition to the one you are going to present. It probably explains why this problem has not been addressed and many times it is based on cost. This will be what the critics would say.
• Points 2 and 3: Your argument
Include a section that explains at least two steps that might lead to a positive change in society.
• Conclusion:
In the last section restate your argument and explain your recommendations to your readership about how to address this issue.
Ans- Birth rate refers to the number of babies born in a particular group of people during a particular period of time in a country.Japan’s population is shrinking. For the first time since the government started keeping track more than a century ago, there were fewer than 1 million births last year, as the country’s population fell by more than 300,000 people. The blame has long been put on Japan’s young people, who are accused of not having enough baby born process and on women, who, the narrative goes, put their careers before thoughts of getting married and having a family.
But there’s another, simpler explanation for the country’s low birth rate, one that has implications for the U.S. that Japan’s birth rate may be falling because there are fewer good opportunities for young people, and especially men, in the country’s economy. In a country where men are still widely expected to be breadwinners and support families, a lack of good jobs may be creating a class of men who don’t marry and have children because they and their potential partners know they can’t afford to.
This may seem surprising in Japan, a country where the economy is currently humming along, and the unemployment rate is below 3 percent. But the shrinking economic opportunities stem from a larger trend that is global in nature and the rise of unsteady employment. Since the post war years, Japan had a tradition of regular employment,as labor experts commonly call it, in which men started their careers at jobs that gave them good benefits, dependable raises, and the understanding that if they worked hard, they could keep their jobs until retirement.
According to me, people should be known to their other responsibilities also. They should be motivated towards their work obviously but should be know towards their families. So that there can't be such shortage of birth rate.
As the number of births goes down, there are fewer young people entering its work force. That means fewer people to replace retiring workers and support them as they age, a situation that poses a serious threat to Japan’s economic vitality and the security of its social safety net.
The government has moved to encourage births by increasing incentives for parents to have more children and reducing obstacles that might discourage those who want to and this is a right decision taken by the government.
But the incentives are proving insufficient as more people in Japan are putting off child birth or not having children at all either to take advantage of economic opportunities or because they worry that economic opportunities do not exist and feel that they cannot afford children. This is the reason why this scheme Increases the cost of government incentive. Also an aging population will mean higher costs for the government, a shortage of pension and social-security-type funds, a shortage of people to care for the very aged, slow economic growth, and a shortage of young workers.
It can lead to a positive change in society as:
1) More and more people can focus on their work rather than other problems that came across from the familes and Increase their productivity.
2) The populated countries like india and china can see development due to less population which results in low unemployment and countries would take the required steps in their respective countries too.
This issue have both negative and positive side effects. Positively population control is very necessary and on the other hand it raises the cost.
