Solutions

Expert Solution

Hip fracture is very common in older womens,as the bone strength decreases with age.A fall or even prolonged standing can cause hip fracture in people with reduced bone strength.

Reasons for developing bladder infection in Jennifer.

1.urinary catheter insersion during surgery(common cause of urinary tract infection in post operative period)

2.Immobility (Restrict frequent flush out of urine and bacterila which reduces the risk of urinary tract infection)

3.Sedation(In patients who undergone surgery have problems with the urine retension which is cause of urinary infection)

4.Age-age increases the possibility of developig infections.

In jennifer case she is 72 years old,has been confined to bed as she is in the recovery phase from hip fracture. As age increases she is at risk of getting any infections due to compromised immunity, limited mobility:Make her unable to void urine frequently and may cause urine retension and which can result in bladder infection.
