Control is a function used by the project leader for comparing the predetermined standards or the estimated targets with that of the actual results or attained performance. It is done by the project manager inorder to check the deviations between the estimated and actual outcome of project so as to judge whether desired results have been produced through accomplishing the project or not.

Then the reasons of failure are identified or the points of weaknesses that resulted in underperformance of jobs involved in the project are suspected. The project leader tries to minimize these factors in future that led to the underperformance. If not eradicated, but these factors are minimized to a great extend after the dentification of their root cause.

Similarly if the project has been a success then the determination of the strengths or factors behind out performance of the jobs involved in the project are found out so as to record and repeat them in future. This enables the project manager to practice control over the project performance and produce desirable results to a great extend.

Through controlling deviations the controlling function in project execution helps not to exceed the budgets , enables to produce outcome in predetermined duration, helps to maintain a quality standard through regular quality checks , helps to make any sort of necessary improvements as identified by the deviations , helps to minimize the cost through controlling wastages, identifies potential risks and helps the project activities to be in compliance with estimated cost (BCWS) and supports the project efficiency.

E.g the project of improving customer satisfaction through providing the standardized, quality superior and affordable products will be possible only after the controlling function while the product is made is at place

Project evaluation refers to the detailed and critical analyses, of the sequence of activities, jobs involved, tasks performed, resources required, human resources available, and other factors essential in project execution. It involves study and understanding of how tasks are performed and what can be improved, it helps to ensure smooth flow of operations or jobs to be conducted by conceptualizing the sequence of activities inorder to make all the necessary arrangenents , facilitues or factors duly and timely available to avoid dekyas , wastages , idleness and under utilization.

Proper evaluation will ensure that product so produced is as per the likes and preferences of the Customer resukting in customer satisfaction

Evaluation of the project provides a wider and deep view about the factors that will play an integral role in project success. Deep study about its activities enables to make the essentially required resources available at appropriate times , recruits the staff suitable for the jobs, conducts research about the competitors strategy and accordingly making the next move , helps finding ways and new methods for cost reduction and quality improvement and ensures to conduct these tasjs as per the ore estimated budget available thus helping not to exceed it.
