Gonorrhoea

It is sexually transmitted diseases usually affecting the genital urinary tract such as genitals, urethra, anal, rectum and throat. Caused by bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae or gonococcus.

Transmitted from person to person through vaginal, oral or anal sex; from a mother to her baby at birth; close physical contact; from the genitals to the eyes via the fingers and sharing sex toys;

*When women visit into the gynaecologist office.

*Collect thorough medical and sexual history

Subjective data

*An unpleasant smell from vaginal area

*Lower abdominal pain

*Irritation or discharge from the anal area

Objective data

*PE reveals cervical inflammation

*Tenderness in the lower abdomen

*Acute pain R/T infection

*Situational low self-esteem, R/T guilt because

of having an STI

*Anxiety, related to fear about possible cancer

*Ineffective sexual patterns R/T impaired relationship

*experience the ease of pain shows infection has been eliminated

*indicate the PAP smear result shows no abnormal cells

*articulate the feeling of no ashamed or guilt as she can seek the Rx for the cure

*Before any Rx determine drug sensitivity

*Administer antibiotics as ordered

*Emphasize on regular pap smear and pelvic examination to prevent the complication (PID)

*carefully use all the contaminated articles in containers and dispose them accordingly

*monitor the patient for complication

*follow up with client sexual partners

Health education in prevention

*avoid the sexual contact till the infection eliminates

*advise the partner to receive the Rx even the result are negative

*advise the client to be careful in coming contact with body secretion with the eye

During a week after in the follow up visits
