Solutions

Expert Solution

Wage inequality in the United States has been diminishing throughout its history and significant advancements towards equality have been made beginning mostly in the early 1900s. But despite the progress, wage inequality at the work place in the United States continues to persist in many forms.

Although women have made tremendous gains in education, employment and earnings in the past fifty years, however there still exists a persistent gender pay gap. Even young working women continue to lag behind men. The data reflects that women earned less in every occupation except accounting, bookkeeping, and auditing clerks. Because of the wage gap, the women workers deplete more of their earnings in the payment their costly student loan debt

In America, despite the efforts of equality proponents, the wage inequality persists among several races. Asian Americans have the maximum average income which is followed by white Americans, Latino Americans, African Americans and Native Americans. The data has found wage and employment discrimination against blacks, Asians and Native Americans; however, discrimination has been found to be a much larger contributing factor for black wages in comparison to the wages of other races

Evaluating and proper understanding the causes and consequences of the differential in the wage gap is important for the development of the nation. Although several rules and regulations have been made but it still persists and it is important to take strict actions against it.
