Employment discrimination laws are the laws for employees or workers that protects them from being treated differently based on caste, creed. religion etc. which is not related to their job performance. This law gives them equal protection. Not all characteristics classify for protection against discrimination, but it includes race/skin color, nationality, genetic information, gender, disability, age etc.
MAJOR DISCRIMINATION LAWS:-
1)Age Discrimination Act-1975
2) Americans with Disability Act
3)Equal pay act -1963
-This act assures employees of minimum wages.
4) National origin discrimination
- It protects employees from any discrimination based on its national origin with respect to language (Accent, English fluency etc.)
5)Pregnancy discrimination
- It forbids any discrimination done based on pregnancy when it comes to job performance, firing, hiring, layoff, training benefits etc.
UNION ORGANISATION PROCESS:-
A) BUILDING AN ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
In this, step leaders are identified and from all the departments, all shifts, all racial, ethnic and gender.
B) ADOPT AN ISSUES PROGRAM
The committee develops a program of union and the strategy to fulfill it. They conduct campaingns for election.
C)SIGN UP MAJORITY ON UNION CARDS:-
The fellow co workers are asked to support the union.
D)WIN THE ELECTION
With the support of co-workers win the lection
E)NEGOTIATE A CONTRACT
