Among the products of glycolysis, which compounds contain energy that can be used by other biological reactions?
Pyruvate contains energy that eventually is extracted from the Citric Acid cycle.
ATP is cellular energy. Its what the cell uses to perform functions, and it is what the cell produces from cellular respiration.
NADH is a source of energy because it gives up its Hydrogen during Chemiosmosis and uses the Hydrogen's electrons to create energy. It uses the protons from hydrogen to create a concentration gradient so that ATP Synthase can make ATP.
Glycolysis is the basic or initial process that every cell goes through for survival. It is the common pathway of production of energy in every individual. In this process,6 carbon- glucose is broken down into 3 carbon compounds known as Pyruvate. This Pyruvate is used further used in the process of the Krebs cycle that generates energy. If we look out the whole process of glycolysis, we will see that glucose undergoes through series of steps to become the source of energy for the cell; during this process, ATP and NADH are produced, which acts as the source of energy that could be used. Pyruvate could also be used since pyruvate molecules get used up further in other biological reactions that are Krebs cycle to provide energy.
The products of glycolysis which are used as a source of energy that can be used in other biological reactions are pyruvate, NADH, and ATP.
